For ladies in the work of the Roman Empire, hair removal was often seen as an identifier of class, with rich, upper class ladies having the privilege to buy pumice stones, razors, tweezers & depilatory creams to remove undesirable hair. The ancient Egyptians popularized another method, still often found at beauty salons in the Middle East today, called sugaring.
